❗The Russian Journal of Earth Sciences publishes articles in Russian and English.
For articles in English, the titles of the figures and the inscriptions on them must be in English. All decimal numbers (including tables and figures) must contain a dot.
For articles in Russian, it is mandatory to have the title of the article, authors, affiliations, annotations and keywords in English. All decimal numbers (including tables and figures) must contain a comma.

Article Requirements

An article sent to the editorial office must correspond to the thematic sections of the Russian Journal of Earth Sciences, contain original scientific results and be formatted in accordance with these rules.

The authors of the article undertake to observe the ethics of scientific publications and are responsible for the absence of plagiarism and falsification of research results in the manuscript, guarantee the reliability and reproducibility of the research results according to the methods given in the manuscript. The authors also guarantee that the materials of the article are not submitted for publication in other journals (in Russian and English).

The article, expert act and other documents should be sent to the editorial office in electronic form through the online form on the journal's website. If you have any questions, please contact the editorial office by email rjes@wdcb.ru.

Article structure 

When preparing an article for submission, make sure you have the following components:

Title ⬇

  • The title should be informative, give a complete picture of the content of the article. Be concise and search engine friendly. Only generally accepted abbreviations are allowed.

Authors ⬇

  • Full name, academic degree, full name of the organization, city, country, e-mail of the author for communication (with the obligatory indication of a valid e-mail address), ORCID are indicated.

Abstract⬇

  • The abstract should be written in 1 paragraph, contain no more than 200-250 words and reflect the author's understanding of the scientific problem, the goals and objectives of the study, as well as the main conclusions.
  • The Editorial Board also recommends including abstracts in graphic format and/or video summaries (2-3 minutes).

Keywords ⬇

  • 5-10 words and phrases should reflect the main provisions, achievements and results. Highly specialized words are not allowed.

Text structure

For the correct design of the article, it is recommended to use the article template.

Articles should be submitted in Microsoft Word text editor in .docx format.

❗It is also necessary to attach a .pdf file with all the components of the article in the order in which they appear in the text. This file will be sent to reviewers for writing a review of the article.

You may submit an article in LaTeX format, and you have to use only the style sheets recommended by the editors. Due to the fact that the template is constantly updated, you can request a style file directly from the editors by email rjes@wdcb.ru.

 

Main text ⬇

  • The text of the article should be structured and include: an introduction, a description of the methods, a discussion of the results and a conclusion.
  • The total size of the article, including tables and figures (as well as the English part for articles in Russian) should not exceed 40,000 characters. In case of exceeding the established volume, an additional fee will be charged (see Publication fee).

Acknowlegenments⬇

  • The acknowlegenments for the help in preparing the article (intellectual, technical and financial) should be presented as a separate fragment and placed at the end of the article before the references or the first appendix (if any).

References ⬇

  •  The references is located in a separate block. Descriptions of sources (printed and electronic) are arranged as they are mentioned in the text.
  • If the cited article has a Digital Object Identifier (DOI), it must be specified.
  • References in the text have to enclosed in square brackets [ ].  References to literature in the text are presented in square brackets []. In the format [1] for one author, [1, 2, 3] for two or more authors.
  • The bibliography should be sorted in ascending order.
  • The list of references may include articles in scientific journals with and without a DOI identifier, books and articles in books (collections), abstracts of conferences and scientific and technical reports, as well as registered databases and data sets.
  • The recommended share of self-citation is no more than 10%.
  • Abbreviations of source names (journals, publishing houses) are not allowed.
  • Electronic sources are described similarly to printed ones, indicating the address of access and the date of access.

Formatting components of the article

Formulas ⬇

  • They are typed in a special editor. It is not required to insert formulas into the text in the form of pictures.
  • Latin letters are inserted from the keyboard, Greek letters and some mathematical symbols should be taken from the menu Insert → Symbols. 

Figures⬇

  • All figures, schemes and diagrams included in the text must be presented as separeted files in the formats in which they were implemented, for example: JPG; TIFF; PNG; EPS; CDR etc. 
  • Figures must be clear (resolution of at least 300 dpi), and the inscriptions, drawings and symbols on them must be easily distinguishable and made in the language in which the article is written.
  • All necessary explanations must be included in сaptions for figures.
  • In the figure field there should not be any symbols, designations, etc., not explained in the caption or in the text of the article, except for geographical names or well-established well-known terms that do not require explanation.

Table ⬇

  • If the article is based on data that significantly exceeds the recommended size of the article, the editors recommend publishing this data in the form of a specialized database or set in the Earth Science DataBase. This is treated as a publication of data with a corresponding assignment of a unique DOI to this publication - see Publication fee

Physical quantities, symbols and abbreviations ⬇

  • Physical quantities should be taken according to the International System of Units in this field of science, when naming chemical compounds, it is desirable to use common terminology.
  • It is unacceptable to use highly specialized jargon, terms and mathematical symbols without explanation, abbreviations without first deciphering them in the text, as well as any other elements that make it difficult to understand the content and meaning of the article

The reasons why an article may be rejected:

  • The originality of the article is less than 85%.
  • The content of the article does not correspond to the subject of the journal.
  • Failure to comply with 5 or more points of the requirements for articles.
  • Negative review. 
  • The decision of Editorial board.
